This is dedicated to David, Elizabeth and their wonderful mother, Ruth Luca
I will never forget the first time we, Sammy and Anita met your mother at St James' Muswell Hill. We were sitting behind her and you David. And then she spoke with her delightful Swiss German accent, that reminded us of Mummy and home. It was friendship at first sight, seeing her sitting so comfortably with you and talking to her afterwards. The welcome was immediate and we were invited to the house, with Ruth bustling, full of hospitality, a ready smile and talks about life and faith. She was someone that was easy to talk and be with. Fast, quick in her movements, with that Swiss efficiency, excellent taste and order that I associate with her. She loved you, Elizabeth and her grandchildren.
Her heart was huge and when our brother Johnny had one of his bi-polar episodes, Ruth was wonderful with him, entertaining him with a giggle in the huge garden, and patient with his repartee. She was someone, I would pop in on, frequently unannounced, and we would just pick up our friendship, where it was, sharing life's journey, prayers and faith. Ruth was warm, generous, hospitable, honest and lovely. You will have your own precious and fragrant lingering memories. She enhanced the life of all who met her. and was a listening and prayerful ear in times of trouble. Rest in peace dear Ruth. Sadly missed but never forgotten, a bright light that would light up any room. Now she is smiling that bright smile in the arms of her Saviour. Anita and Sammy xxx Goodbye dear Shatzli until we meet again.
